The Smart Drop feature can be used to copy up to the first 100 contacts in the Current Search Result to the windows clipboard where the information can then be pasted to other applications such as your word processor.  To use this feature, do the following:

1. Search for a group of contacts, then click the Smart Drop icon shown above.  Contact data will be copied to the windows clipboard where it can be pasted to any application such as your word processor.  You can customize what data Smart Drop should copy by clicking the question mark on the Smart Drop bar and modifying the selected data settings (shown below).  Smart drop will copy up to the first 100 contacts in the current search result.

You can also drag the Smart Drop buttons to a desired application.  When doing so, the phone book will minimize revealing applications opened in the background. 

Did you know that you can toggle through applications during a drag and drop operation?  Try this, open a few applications and drag the smart button to your task bar.  Hover the target over an application in the task bar and the application will move to the front of the screen where you can release your mouse button and drop the data.
