Overview
The primary function of the Office Accelerator Mobile Sync feature
is to provide an offline copy of the centrally networked
'Primary' Office Accelerator database. This is useful
when an Office Accelerator user is no longer attached to either the
LAN (Local Version of Office Accelerator), or the internet (Web
Based Version of Office Accelerator). The Office
Accelerator Mobile Sync will provide a local copy of both a users
phone book and calendar information stored in an SQL Express
database. When an Office Accelerator user makes changes to a
mobile copy of the Office Accelerator database, these changes can
be synchronized to the Office Accelerator 'Primary' database upon
return to the network. Contacts that were modified by a
mobile user are added to the Office Accelerator 'Primary' database,
and changes by other users (such as an administrative assistant) to
the mobile users contacts in the Office Accelerator 'Primary'
database that occurred while the Office Accelerator mobile user was
offline are added to the mobile copy of the database.
A common question about Mobile synchronization is what happens
when multiple users make changes to exactly the same information
within a contact or calendar item. The answer is a simple
one, the 'Primary' Office Accelerator database always wins.
For example, if four mobile users change the same business phone
number for the same Office Accelerator contact, the first Office
Accelerator user to return to the network and sync changes will see
his or her changes applied to the business phone number of the
given contact in the 'Primary' Office Accelerator database.
The three remaining mobile sync users will not see changes they
made to the modified business phone number, but will be notified
that this change was not made and that the information was logged
for manual input. If the same business number was changed by
a network user of the primary database, all 4 mobile sync users
will not see changes they made to that number and will be notified
that the change was not made and that the contact information they
added while in mobile mode will be logged for manual input.
Such a scenario is uncommon but is used here for conceptual
purposes.
Important Things You Need To Know Before You Sync.
- Each Office Accelerator user can have one instance of a Mobile
sync. installed. In other words, the same user cannot install
a mobile copy of the database on multiple workstations.
However, a mobile sync setup can be reset at any time and
reconfigured to work on a new workstation.
How
To Reset The Mobile Sync
- When a user is in mobile sync mode the word "(Mobile)" will
appear on the title bar of the Office Accelerator phone book and
calendar.

- Only phone book contacts which have been placed in a users My
Phone Book folder are synchronized. Hence, users must ensure
that the appropriate contacts are added to their My Phone Book
folder prior to configuring the Mobile Sync. All Office
Accelerator contacts can be easily added to the 'My Phone Book'
folder with a simple drag and drop action.
How
To Add All Office Accelerator Contacts to Your 'My Phone Book'
Folder

- Office Accelerator can be set to ALWAYS add new contacts to a
users My Phone Book folder. Doing so will ensure that any new
contacts created by a user will be included in the Mobile
sync.
How to Force all New Contacts to Your 'My Phone Book'
Folder
- Users can remain in Mobile Mode for a period of 180 days.
However, users should synchronize changes daily to ensure that all
contact data is up to date and included in daily backups.
YOU MUST SYNCHRONIZE DATA MANUALLY, this is not an
automated process and is described below.
- Mobile Sync support for Office Accelerator users must be
granted as a user right by the Office Accelerator administrator or
other user possessing the Office Accelerator administrative right.
The Office Accelerator Administrator will use the
|File|Administrator|User Rights Settings| option from the |File|
menu within the Office Accelerator phone book to grant Mobile Sync
rights. This is done by selecting a given user and modifying
their rights by clicking on the Mobile (Laptop) Sync tab to enable
Mobile Sync. The Administrator can also limit the number of
contacts a given user can sync by entering a maximum contact
value. After the user has been granted this right, they must
restart the Office Accelerator application for changes to take
effect.

- The following features are unavailable while in Mobile
Mode
- Palm Sync
- Outlook Sync
- Modification of Categories
