Integrating the Accelerator Menu to Word and WordPerfect

The Accelerator menu integrates to Microsoft Word and Corel Word Perfect during installation. However, during installation some in-use components may prevent the integration of the Accelerator menu.  If you open Word or WordPerfect, and do not see the Accelerator menu, try the following:


Microsoft Word Instructions:

  1. Close down all running applications. 
     
  2. Locate and run oaword.exe located in c:\officea.
     
  3. Click the |Detect Installed Version of MS Word| button. 


     
  4. Click the |Add Menu to Word (Your Detected Version) button. 

 

Alternate Microsoft Word Instructions if Above Method Fails

Office 2003 Instructions

  1. Exit Word, Outlook, Excel and another Microsoft Office products.

  2. Copy OA2002a.DOT (for Word 10) or OA2003a.DOT (for Word 11) to the following location.  Both files are located in c:\officea.

    C:\Documents and Settings\<Windows Username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP

    (The above is the default location for Startup documents. You can get the exact path by opening Word and selecting 'Options' from the 'Tools' menu, then selecting the 'File Locations' tab.)

  3. Restart Word and the Accelerator menu should load. If not:

    3a. You may need to restart Windows to force any hidden instances of Word to close.

    3b. OR, you may need to allow trusted macros by opening Word and going to the Tools|Macro|Security menu, selecting the 'Trusted Sources' tab, and checking the 'Trust All Installed Add-ins and Templates' check box.


    This has been tested to work with Security Settings set to 'High'.

Office 2007 Instructions

  1. Exit Word, Outlook, Excel and another Microsoft Office products.

  2. Copy OA2007a.DOT (for Word 12) to the following location.  OA2007a.DOT is located in c:\officea

    C:\Users\<Windows Username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP

  3. Restart Word and the Accelerator menu should load. If not:

    3a. You may need to restart Windows to force any hidden instances of Word to close.
    3b. OR, you may need to allow trusted macros by clicking the Office Button selecting Word Options|Trust Center|Trust Center Settings|Macro Settings|and selecting Enable All Macros|.
